The "Switched on Pop" podcast has moved to a video format on Netflix

The music podcast *Switched on Pop*, hosted by Nate Sloan and Charlie Harding, recently transitioned to a video format on Netflix, according to *The Verge*.

For 12 years, the show’s creators have been breaking down pop music in detail, analyzing musical choices in songs and production techniques. During that time, Switched on Pop has released nearly 500 episodes. Among the podcast’s topics have been, in particular, the lyrical imagery in Justin Timberlake’s song “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” and Tarin Southern’s experiments with artificial intelligence.

Nate Sloan is a composer and professor of musicology at the USC Thornton School of Music. He researches pop music, jazz, and the works of the Tin Pan Alley era. Charlie Harding works as a songwriter, music journalist, and educator.

Guests on the video version of *Switched on Pop* on Netflix have included Aaron Dessner of The National, Trevor Horn, known for The Buggles and Yes, and the band Cypress Hill. The podcast is produced by Vulture, owned by *New York Magazine*, and the Vox Media Podcast Network.

In an interview with The Verge, Harding named the Martin D-28 acoustic guitar his most indispensable instrument. According to him, this model embodies both how a guitar should sound and how it should look.
