Celine Dion returns to the stage in Paris with a full-length concert
Canadian singer Celine Dion returns to the stage in Paris, France, on Saturday. This will be her first full-length concert in six years. Over the next eight months, she will give 26 concerts at the Plenitude arena in Paris.
As YLE News reports, about 9 million people registered for ticket presales in April. More than 30,000 people arrived in Paris for the first concert.
Impact on Paris's economy
All performances sold out quickly. The concert series is expected to bring up to €800 million to Paris's economy thanks to spending by fans who arrive from different countries and stay in the region.

The city prepared for the concerts: the metro station near the venue was decorated with lyrics from the singer's famous songs, and a temporary shop opened at the Galeries Lafayette department store. On the eve of the concert, Paris city authorities organized free open-air karaoke for 10,000 people, including those who were unable to buy tickets for the concerts.
Return after illness
Dion last performed at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where she sang Edith Piaf's Hymne à l'amour. Her last full-length concert took place six years ago.
The 58-year-old artist stopped performing after announcing that she had a rare neurological condition — stiff-person syndrome. It caused severe muscle spasms and at times deprived her of the ability to walk. The singer's health has now stabilized, but she remains cautious: she leaves her hotel only for rehearsals and greets fans from a safe distance.
