In the US, Widow’s Bay series wins eight Emmy awards
In Los Angeles, US, the series Widow’s Bay received eight awards at an early ceremony of the 78th Emmy Awards. The HBO Max medical drama The Pitt won four statuettes. Asharq Al-Awsat reports on the results of the second evening of ceremonies.
Eight awards for Widow’s Bay
The Apple TV comedy horror Widow’s Bay, in which Matthew Rhys plays the mayor of a small New England town suffering from a centuries-old curse, was recognized, among other things, for cinematography, sound, music and production design. Betty Gilpin won the award for best guest actress in a comedy series for her role in the project.
In the limited series categories, DTF St. Louis received six awards. David Harbour won an Emmy for best supporting actor in a limited series, anthology or TV movie — it was his third nomination. Linda Cardellini became the best supporting actress in this category and received her first Emmy.

Awards for The Pitt and other projects
The Pitt, which had 25 nominations and won in the best drama series category last year, received awards, including for prosthetic makeup. Ernest Harden Jr. became the best guest actor in a drama series for his role as Louis Cloverfield. For the 73-year-old actor, it was his first nomination and first Emmy win. Andrew Bird and Gavin Brivik won for original music and song lyrics.
Apple TV’s new series Pluribus, created by Vince Gilligan, received four awards, including for editing, production design and sound mixing. Spider-Noir, starring Nicolas Cage, won five Emmys, including for visual effects and stunts. Shailene Woodley received her first Emmy as best guest actress in a drama series for her role in Paradise.
The Television Academy presents more than 100 Primetime Emmy Awards. The main ceremony will take place on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be hosted by Mariska Hargitay. Widow’s Bay and The Pitt may each receive up to six more awards.
