Maximum price programme
The restrictions are in effect as part of the third stage of the Ceny Paliwa Niżej package. Its purpose is to curb price increases at filling stations and reduce drivers' refuelling costs.
The programme was launched after the law on a tax on excess profits of fuel companies came into force. The law made it possible to temporarily reduce excise duty and VAT on liquid fuels. The measures are to be financed through a new levy on fuel concerns that receive above-average profits. The Ceny Paliwa Niżej package is to remain in effect until the end of the year.
