The Mriya Gallery in New York hosted a solo exhibition by Ukrainian photographer Oleksandr Radomskyi

The Mriya Gallery in New York hosted a solo exhibition by Ukrainian photographer Oleksandr Radomskyi

On February 18, the Mriya Gallery in New York hosted a solo exhibition by Ukrainian photographer Oleksandr Radomskyi. Just like the showcased works dedicated to the Photo in Motion concept, the photographer’s personal journey is always marked by dynamic movement. His path from Dnipro in eastern Ukraine to Manhattan is undeniable proof of that. In this article, we delve into the concept of the exhibition, the artist’s narrative photography capturing the essence of New York, and the emergence of his own unique photographic style.

“Motion is life. And I wanted to learn how to capture life in exactly that way through my photographs.” With this intention, Radomskyi spent years perfecting his technique, which today allows him to capture not only form but, most importantly, energy. The result is dynamic, vivid images that convey a deep sense of movement.

One thing is clear without much analysis: New York is a city that never sleeps. Its energy is too vibrant and multifaceted. To embody it in photographs without losing its scale means becoming part of this relentless flow.

Radomskyi describes his own journey and the movement that defines him with one word—work. Never giving up, trying again, and always striving to surpass oneself. A formula that seems familiar to every Ukrainian today. After all, it is the desire to become the best version of oneself that ultimately determines whether your movement becomes a moment worth remembering.

Through the lens of his works, Radomskyi conveys a belief he holds dear: “Photography is not just a craft that can be learned by following certain rules. It is an art that requires constant growth, experimentation, and the search for new perspectives—even on the same subject.” This dynamic flow unites all the photographs in the exhibition into a single artistic narrative.

Mriya Gallery – A Cultural Bridge Between Ukraine and the U.S.

Mriya Gallery, which hosted the exhibition, is the first gallery in New York dedicated to promoting Ukrainian artists in the United States. Since 2022, it has served as a cultural bridge between the two countries, fostering a deeper understanding of Ukrainian identity among Americans.

By collaborating with young artists, curators, collectors, and cultural organizations, the gallery’s founders are creating a dynamic art community that thrives on mutual support, creativity, and innovation.

What’s Next for Radomskyi?

For Oleksandr, this exhibition is just the beginning, not the peak of his journey. He has no intention of stopping. Currently, he is preparing a book detailing his unique photographic method and is also working on launching his own online school of narrative photography to share his experience with aspiring photographers.

“I realized that photography is not just about technique,” Radomskyi explains. “It is the art of seeing the world in a unique way, the ability to reveal people’s characters through the lens of a camera.”

Notable Guests at the Exhibition

Among the guests at the exhibition were Ladik Kostandyan (Lado Agency), photographer Slavik Lyzov, Petro Onysko, Taras Nahirniak, Tanya Nikolenko, Anastasiia Lysenko, and Katya Fesyk.
