The State Statistics Service reported a decline in the average salary in Ukraine

The average salary of a full-time employee in Ukraine in August 2026 was 31,892 UAH, which is 1.1% less than in July but 23.1% more than in August of last year.

According to the State Statistics Service, a decline in average wages was observed in most economic sectors—ranging from 0.4% in administrative services to 6.2% in health care and social assistance. At the same time, the construction, IT, trade, public administration, defense, arts, and real estate sectors recorded wage increases of 0.1–4.7%.

Regionally, the highest wages were earned by workers in Kyiv (48,705 UAH), as well as in the Luhansk and Kyiv regions, while the lowest levels were recorded in the Chernivtsi (22,807 UAH) and Kirovohrad regions. Among sectors, the highest incomes were earned by professionals in the information and telecommunications sector (79,170 UAH), while the lowest were earned by educators (19,109 UAH). As of September 1, wage arrears totaled 3.8 billion UAH.

The State Statistics Service published these figures on Facebook.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance released the draft state budget of Ukraine for 2027. It includes record-high spending on security and defense, pay raises for teachers and medical workers, as well as significant funds for pensions and support for veterans and internally displaced persons. Overall, government spending is expected to rise to 7.27 trillion hryvnias.

The average pension in Ukraine for the first half of 2026 increased by 728 hryvnias. At the same time, this figure does not fully reflect the actual level of payments, as a significant portion of Ukrainian pensioners receive amounts lower than the average pension.
