In Ghana, corporate adviser Ernest De-Graft Egyir stated in his column that employee engagement is an area of leadership responsibility. In his view, employees engaged in their work better understand the organization’s priorities, offer ideas, collaborate effectively and remain committed to achieving results.

As MyJoyOnline reports, various factors affect employee experience, but leadership plays a significant role in shaping it. The author believes that chief executive officers should create an environment in which employees understand the organization’s purpose, feel valued, can contribute and see the significance of their own work.

Steps for leaders

Among the key approaches, Egyir named clearly explaining the organization’s purpose, consistently taking employees’ opinions into account, recognizing meaningful contributions, creating opportunities for participation and improving managers’ effectiveness.
