17-year-old Ayaan Misbah prepares for ILT20 auction in the UAE — The National
Seventeen-year-old batter Ayaan Misbah, who represents the UAE at youth level, is seeking a contract with one of the six International League T20 clubs. The auction for the league’s fifth season is scheduled for October 1, The National reports.
Desert Vipers programme
Misbah was born in India and began playing cricket at the age of five near his family home in Delhi. When he was seven, he moved to Dubai with his family. The cricketer now studies at Jumeirah College, where he takes mathematics, economics and computer science, and also participates in the Desert Vipers franchise development programme.
Desert Vipers selected Misbah in the first round of the ILT20 Development Tournament draft. This means the franchise will have priority rights to him during the fifth-season auction. Each of the league’s six franchises must have four UAE players in their squad, with at least one of them under the age of 23.
Franchises can also match any bid for four of their local players from last season or for players representing them in the development tournament.

Salaries and youth results
The minimum salary at the auction is $10,000, with no upper limit. At last year’s auction, UAE national team fast bowler Junaid Siddique received a $170,000 contract, while Mohammed Rohid received $140,000.
Misbah has already posted results in UAE youth national team matches. At the age of 16, he scored 163 runs against Malaysia at the U19 Asia Cup, followed by 77 against Pakistan in the next match. The cricketer described appearances against strong opponents at the Asia Cup as an opportunity to demonstrate his skills.
When the auction begins on October 1, Misbah will be attending classes at his school in Jumeirah. Some other young UAE national team players may receive less playing time in the ILT20 due to a likely overlap between the tournament and the national team’s one-day matches.
