The Joshua-Fury fight may be called off due to a dispute between the promoters
A potential mega-fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury may not happen due to a conflict among the people organizing it. Zuffa Boxing CEO Dana White stated that negotiations have reached an impasse and that he is ready to pull out of the project.
In an interview with iFL TV, White spoke harshly about Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn. In his opinion, Hearn is deliberately complicating the process and effectively preventing the organization of a fight that could generate significant revenue for both sides.
“I’ve never seen a person who’s supposedly supposed to be the event’s promoter do so much damage to his own fight. Usually, you go where the money is. In this situation, things are happening completely differently,” White said.
According to the official, if the decision were up to him alone, he would cut out the middlemen and negotiate directly with Frank Warren, who represents Fury. White also warned that he might walk away from the negotiations if the situation remains unchanged.
One of the main reasons for the dispute is the fight’s venue. White’s team favors the U.S., where, in his opinion, the bout would have significantly greater commercial potential. Joshua and Hearn, on the other hand, want to hold the fight in the UK.
The parties are already considering a compromise option—the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The arena in Wales can accommodate about 80,000 spectators and could become the venue for the long-awaited showdown.
However, no final agreement has been reached between the parties yet, and due to the escalating dispute, the organization of the fight remains in question.
