Daria Snigur advanced to the third round of Wimbledon 2026 for the first time in her career
Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur successfully advanced past the second round of Wimbledon 2026, defeating France’s Léa Jeanjean and advancing to the third round of the prestigious tournament for the first time in her career.
The first set was a closely contested battle. After the French player broke serve, Snigur immediately evened the score, and the ninth game proved to be the turning point, as the Ukrainian broke her opponent’s serve for the second time.
After that, Daria confidently served out the set and took the lead in the match.
In the second set, Snigur started with an early break. Although Zhanzhan managed to even the score by breaking the Ukrainian’s serve, Daria broke again in the very next game. From there, the Ukrainian tennis player controlled the flow of the match and, after securing another break, closed out the match in two sets.
Reaching the third round at Wimbledon marks Daria Snigur’s best result at this tournament.
The Ukrainian’s next opponent will be determined after the match between Mariam Bolkvadze (Georgia) and Ashlyn Krueger, who is representing the host country. Snigur will face the winner of that match in the battle for a spot in the round of 16.
On Tuesday, June 30, a sensational match between two Ukrainian tennis players took place on the courts of Wimbledon.
Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur pulled off a stunning upset by defeating Ukraine’s top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina, in the first round of Wimbledon. The match lasted just over an hour and ended in two sets. For Svitolina, the tournament ended right at the start, while Snigur continues her fight to advance to the third round.
