Donetsk's Shakhtar has advanced to the Conference League semifinals

Donetsk’s Shakhtar secured a spot in the Conference League semifinals with a 2-2 draw in the quarterfinal second leg against the Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. Thanks to a convincing 3-0 victory in the first leg, the Ukrainian team advanced on aggregate with a 5-2 score.

Alisson opened the scoring in the 58th minute, but the home team managed to seize the initiative thanks to goals by Jensen and Shin in the second half. Meirelles sealed the final result in the 83rd minute, finishing off a Donetsk counterattack and settling the outcome of the match. Despite a fierce battle and a series of yellow cards for both sides, Marino Pusic’s men maintained the necessary momentum to advance to the next round.

Reaching the semifinals was a significant achievement for the Ukrainian club on the European stage in the 2025/26 season.
