Polish tennis player Iga Świątek fell near the end of the first set of her match against American Iva Jović in the round of 16 of the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing, China. After the fall, the athlete quickly continued playing, Interia Sport reports.

Incident at 5:1

The incident occurred with the score at 5:1 in the first set. Świątek was leading 40:15 and had two set points. During the rally, Jović hit a fast flat backhand, after which the ball landed on the line on the Polish player's forehand side.

Świątek tried to reach the ball with a slice but was unable to do so. As she attempted to slide, her forward leg stopped on the hard court surface, after which the tennis player fell onto the court.

The first set ended 6:1

The fall did not prevent Świątek from finishing the first set 6:1. Concerned cries could be heard on the Centre Court in Beijing at that moment, but according to the outlet, the fall was controlled. The tennis player brushed herself off, continued the match and made a successful start to the second set.

The match between Świątek and Jović began after 7:00 a.m. Polish time.
