Young tennis player Bilozertsev has changed his citizenship and will compete for Uzbekistan

17-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Nikita Bilozertsev will no longer represent Ukraine at the international level. From now on, he will compete under the flag of Uzbekistan.

This was reported by BTU.

Bilozertsev currently ranks 13th in the world junior rankings.

Rumors about a change in citizenship first surfaced during last year’s Wimbledon. At that time, the athlete refused to answer questions in Ukrainian, and the media speculated about a possible switch to representing Bulgaria.

According to sources, Uzbekistan offered the tennis player more favorable terms.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian women’s national team is preparing for the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers, where they will face Poland in Gliwice on April 10–11. The Ukrainian team includes Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Oleksandra Oliinykova, Lyudmila Kichenok, and Nadiya Kichenok.

As a reminder, Elina Svitolina advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000.

Also, Novak Djokovic lost to Jack Draper in the round of 16 at Indian Wells.
