Chinese tennis player Zheng Qinwen has confirmed her participation in the China Open 2026 tournament, which will take place in Beijing, China. The competition organizers announced this on Tuesday, ECNS reports.
The tournament will be held from September 30 to October 11 at the National Tennis Center in Beijing. It will be Zheng Qinwen's fourth consecutive appearance at the China Open.
Wildcard into the main draw
Due to a prolonged elbow injury at the start of the season, the tennis player dropped to 121st place in the rankings and was initially not included among the main-draw participants through direct entry. Zheng Qinwen later received a wildcard into the tournament's main draw.

After competing at the 2026 US Open, she rose to 52nd place in the current rankings. At the US Open, the Chinese player reached the quarterfinals for the third time in her career, defeating Poland's Iga Świątek 7:5, 6:3 in the fourth round. In the first set, Zheng Qinwen recovered from a 0:5 deficit. Świątek is a six-time Grand Slam tournament champion.

Zheng Qinwen's best result at the China Open was reaching the semifinals in 2024, her first semifinal at a WTA 1000 tournament. In 2025, the tennis player withdrew in the third round due to an injury after returning to the court following elbow surgery.
