LNZ snatched a victory over Rukh and temporarily took the lead in the UPL

LNZ secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Rukh and temporarily returned to first place in the UPL standings.

Ivan Fedyk’s team came into the match on the heels of a losing streak—in 2026, they had lost all their official matches. Vitaliy Ponomariov’s squad was in a slightly better position, but still facing challenges—two losses in key matches and elimination from the Ukrainian Cup.

The start of the game was delayed due to an ambulance, and in the 3rd minute, LNZ lost Avudu to injury. Despite this, the teams immediately got into the game: Rukh created several dangerous chances, including hitting the post after a cross from Kitel.

At the end of the first half, the Lviv team opened the scoring—Diallo broke through down the flank and passed to Roman, who fired a precise shot into the far corner.

In the second half, LNZ equalized: Pasich, following a pass from Tverdokhlib, converted a chance from a tight angle—1:1.

Didyk set up the winning goal late in the match: following his cross, Gorin laid the ball off to Kravchuk, who sent it into the net while falling—2:1.

Thanks to this victory, LNZ moved into first place in the UPL, though the fate of the lead will depend on the result of the match between Shakhtar and Zorya, the date of which has not yet been determined.

As a reminder, Dynamo loaned Rubchynskyi to Karpaty.

Also, Iran has withdrawn from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
