Marnus Labuschagne retains place in Australia’s Test squad
In Australia, 32-year-old cricketer Marnus Labuschagne has been included in the men’s Test squad for an October tour of South Africa. He was named in the 16-player squad despite calls for him to be dropped due to a prolonged absence of Test centuries, ABC News Australia reports.

Labuschagne bats at number three. According to ABC, he has not scored a Test century for more than three years and was not selected in Australia’s squads for limited-overs matches.
The cricketer was born in South Africa and spent the first ten years of his life there, but has not yet played Test matches in the country.

Squad and series schedule
Cooper Connolly, spinner Matthew Kuhnemann and fast bowler Michael Neser were added to the group that played the second Test against Bangladesh in Mackay last month. Neser was also born in South Africa.
The three-Test series will be held in Durban on October 9–13, Gqeberha on October 18–22, and Cape Town on October 27–31. Pat Cummins will captain the team. Steve Smith, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Travis Head were also named in the squad.
