The IOC Unveiled the Emblems for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games
The International Olympic Committee has unveiled the official emblems for the 2032 Games. The Olympic and Paralympic competitions will be held in Brisbane, Australia.
“Inspired by the cockatoo, nature, and the state of Queensland, the emblem adds a new, distinctive symbol to the Games’ recognizable image and visual identity,” the IOC said in a statement.
The emblem is based on the crest of the cockatoo, a parrot common in Australia.
The 2032 Olympic Games will take place in Brisbane from July 23 to August 8.
The next Summer Olympic Games will be held in Los Angeles from July 14 to 30, 2028. A total of 351 sets of medals will be awarded in the U.S.—22 more than at Paris 2024.
At the 2028 Olympics, the number of female athletes will exceed the number of male athletes for the first time in history. Six new mixed-gender events will also be added to the updated program.
The total quota of athletes in Los Angeles will be the same as at the 2024 Paris Olympics—10,500 people. However, women will receive 5,333 spots, while men will receive 5,167. These will be the first Olympic Games in history to feature more women than men.
