Autumn cricket season kicks off in Cyprus
The 2026 autumn cricket season has started in Cyprus: in the first 40-over Cyprus Cricket Cup match, Limassol Warriors defeated Gujrat Lions 124:108 at the Happy Valley ground. Cyprus Mail reports on the results of the opening matches.
Victories for Limassol Warriors and Larnaca Kings
Limassol Warriors began the match as batters and were on 22/6 in the 13th over. Captain Takdir Kundu scored 52 runs and helped the team bring its total to 124. In reply, Gujrat Lions were bowled out for 108 runs in 32.5 overs. Gurdeep Singh took five wickets for 21 runs, while Kundu took two wickets for 10 runs.
In another 40-over Cup game, Larnaca Kings defeated MSN Sport Club by 73 runs. After being on 54/4, Larnaca Kings scored 149 runs in 34.1 overs. Vansham Bhandari of MSN Sport Club took five wickets for 37 runs, but his team scored 76 runs in reply in 22.1 overs.

Match in Dhekelia and T10 tournaments
In Dhekelia, 4Scots scored 174 runs in 32.1 overs. An opening partnership of 92 runs was provided by Eugene Steneberg, who scored 42 runs, and Javon, with 48 runs. Telugu11 won by three wickets. Sankar Mekala scored 58 runs from 20 balls, while Uppaladine Sumanth and Chaitanya Reddy Kolli secured a match-winning partnership for the eighth wicket.
In the Cyprus Cricket T10 Cup, New Limassol Moufflons defeated Moufflons by six wickets while chasing a target of 50 runs. Larnaca Warriors beat Amdocs by eight runs, defending a total of 56 runs.
In the women's autumn competition, the Limassol team secured a 10-wicket victory over the Paphos team in the seventh over. The Paphos side had earlier scored 46/4 in the allotted 10 overs. Cyprus Cricket Technical Committee President Richard Boxall, who was present at Happy Valley, said the matches had been a good start to the season and also noted the umpires' readiness to make difficult decisions.
