Nigeria qualify for the U19 Women’s Cricket World Cup

Nigeria’s junior women’s cricket team secured a place at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Tanzania. In the final of the African first-division qualifying tournament, the team defeated Zimbabwe by four runs. This will be the Junior Female Yellow Greens’ second appearance at the world championship.

98 runs in 20 overs

Nigeria won the toss and chose to bat first. The team scored 98 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Captain Christabel Chukwuonye was the top scorer with 21 runs from 19 balls. Beauty Oguayi added 19 runs, while Jessica Biieni scored 15.

For Zimbabwe, Salem Princess Museka scored 27 runs from 32 balls. Before the final over, Zimbabwe needed six runs and had already lost nine wickets.
