Pakistan lose seven wickets before lunch in third Test against England
In Birmingham, United Kingdom, Pakistan finished the morning session on the first day of the third Test match against England at Edgbaston with 100 runs for 7 wickets. According to Dawn, England lead the three-match series 2–0.
Pakistan made four changes to their lineup after losing the second Test at Lord’s by 194 runs. Following that match, the team’s head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed was dismissed.
English bowlers’ advantage
England captain Joe Root won the toss. England’s fast bowlers took advantage of overcast conditions favorable for bowling. Pakistan lost four wickets in the first ten overs and had 26 runs.
Saim Ayub, who returned to the lineup, was the first to be dismissed: Ollie Robinson got him out without scoring. The wicket was the 100th in Test matches for 32-year-old Robinson. Jofra Archer forced Azan Awais to send the ball into Josh Tongue’s hands at midwicket, while Abdullah Shafique, off Robinson’s delivery, hit the ball toward the player at gully.

Shan Masood was dismissed while attempting a pull shot off Archer’s delivery. Pakistan captain Babar Azam scored seven runs before Josh Tongue bowled him with a delivery that turned sharply after bouncing.
Pakistan’s score
At 64 for 6, debutant wicketkeeper Gazi Ghori, who scored four runs, was dismissed. Tongue also bowled another debutant, Mohammad Imran, with a yorker that broke one of the stumps.
Saud Shakeel, who scored 97 runs in the previous match at Lord’s, remained not out on 37 runs. Razallah, the third debutant in Pakistan’s lineup, hit the final ball of the session for four through cover to take the team’s score to 100.
At the lunch break, Robinson had figures of 2 for 9 in eight overs, Archer had 2 for 18, and Tongue had 3 for 23.
