The son of Russian figure skater Evgeni Plushenko, 13-year-old Alexander Plushenko, is changing his sporting nationality and will compete for the Azerbaijani national team. This decision has already been confirmed by Russian media, and the Russian Figure Skating Federation has reportedly approved his transfer.
Figure skating is once again seeing a change in national affiliations, and this time the spotlight is on the Plushenko family, as his son has decided to continue his career not under the Russian flag, but as part of the Azerbaijani team, where other athletes from the “Plushenko Angels” academy have previously competed.
According to propaganda sources, “the Russian Figure Skating Federation has approved Alexander Plushenko’s transfer to the Azerbaijani national team.” The athlete himself is still a teenager and is just beginning his journey in professional sports.
Alexander Plushenko is 13 years old; he performs in ice shows alongside his father and trains at the “Plushenko Angels” academy, where he has been training since 2017. Another student from the same academy, Veronika Zhilina, has already transferred to the Azerbaijani national team, making this trend of transfers a noticeable one in figure skating.
Details of his future performances have not yet been officially disclosed, but the transfer itself has already become a hot topic of discussion in the sports community.
