"Polissya" Demands Referee Shurman Be Banned for Life: Usyk Has Filed a Complaint

Zhytomyr's "Polissya" has appealed to the Ukrainian Football Association, demanding that referee Denys Shurman be permanently banned from officiating.

The club announced this on its official website.

The appeal was addressed to UAF President Andriy Shevchenko and Referees Committee Chair Kateryna Monzul. It was signed by club president Hennadiy Butkevych and first vice president Oleksandr Usyk.

The reason was the controversial match of the 19th round of the UPL against Dynamo, in which the refereeing crew led by Balakin, as well as VAR referees Shurman and Slonchak, made a series of controversial decisions.

In particular, the club points to an incident where Dynamo defender Bilovar did not receive a red card for a rough foul against Polissya player Emerllahu.

The club’s statement notes that these decisions significantly influenced the outcome of the match and deprived the team of its advantage.

The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Dynamo. Polissya is convinced that, had it not been for the referees’ mistakes, they could have secured the win.

As a reminder, Oleksandr Khizhnyak made his professional boxing debut with a knockout victory.

Wimbledon organizers are also introducing a video review system and new scoreboards.
