Rabada to miss ODI series against Australia due to injury

South African cricketer Kagiso Rabada will not play in the three-match ODI series against Australia due to a strain of the muscles at the back of his right thigh. His participation in the upcoming Test series against the Australian team also remains in doubt.

As Channel NewsAsia reports, Cricket South Africa said that Rabada will miss the three ODI matches, which begin on September 24 in Durban.

CSA noted that the player's availability for the three-match Test series will depend on the progress of his rehabilitation. A decision on including Rabada in the squad will be made closer to the start of the series.

Tests begin in October

Rabada's bowling coach in domestic competitions, Allan Donald, told South African media that the cricketer could be sidelined for up to 10 weeks because of the injury.

The first Test against Australia is scheduled to begin on October 9 in Durban. The other two matches of the series will be hosted by Gqeberha and Cape Town. In 11 Tests against Australia, Rabada has an average of 21.39, while his career average is 22.03. Last year, he took nine wickets in the World Test Championship final at Lord's, where South Africa defeated Australia.
