In Australia, former North Melbourne head coach Alastair Clarkson said that he and his family experienced public humiliation because of the way the club announced his dismissal. North Melbourne dismissed Clarkson on Wednesday, although he had one year remaining on his contract.
Clarkson's reaction
According to ABC News Australia, Clarkson told The Age that his family was shocked by the club's decision. He said they had expected more respectful treatment, including advance notification and a warning about a possible dismissal.
The former coach criticized a press conference held by North Melbourne president Sonja Hood and football executive Todd Viney. At it, club representatives explained the reasons for Clarkson's dismissal. He also said that because of the situation, he feels as though his life has been ruined.

Relationship with the team
Clarkson rejected suggestions that his relationship with the players and club staff had deteriorated. He said that his approach had not changed and was based on care and empathy in order to help footballers realize their dream.
Clarkson led North Melbourne for four seasons. Previously, he won the premiership four times as Hawthorn's coach. John Longmire and Adam Simpson were named among possible candidates for the position of North Melbourne's new coach. The club may also choose one of the highly rated assistants.
