Zelenskyy revoked the presidential scholarship of the Ukraine national team coach, who fled to Belarus

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revoked the scholarship of Vyacheslav Lavrukhin, the head coach of the Ukrainian national artistic gymnastics team, who fled to Belarus.

The corresponding decree was published on the President’s website.


In accordance with paragraph 7 of the Regulations on the President of Ukraine’s Scholarships for Outstanding, Young, and Promising Ukrainian Athletes in Olympic Sports and Their Coaches, approved by Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 844/2019 of November 13, 2019 (as amended), Vyacheslav Vyacheslavovich LavrukhinVyacheslav Vyacheslavovich—coach of 2024 European champion in artistic gymnastics I. V. Radivilova—of the President of Ukraine’s scholarship for outstanding Ukrainian athletes in Olympic sports and their coaches, awarded by Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 221/2025 of April 8, 2025”, – the document states.

The decree takes effect on the day of its publication.

Earlier, former gymnast, 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, multiple European and world championship medalist, and current coach Ihor Radivilov—who was trained by Lavrukhin for over 20 years—was shocked by his mentor’s actions.

As a reminder, Vladislav Geraskevich, the leader of Ukrainian skeleton and the flag bearer for the Ukrainian national team at the 2026 Olympics, received threats from the International Olympic Committee.
