Boox unveils pocket-sized Palma 3 e-reader with stylus support
Boox has unveiled the Palma 3, a compact black-and-white smartphone-format e-reader with active stylus support and Android 16. The device will cost $339.99 and is expected to become available soon, The Verge reports.
Updated body
The Palma 3 features a 6.13-inch E Ink Carta display with a pixel density of 300 ppi, the same as the previous model. At the same time, the device has received a new body with an anodized aluminum frame and a fiberglass back panel with a paper-like texture.
The e-reader runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Q-6690 processor, has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, expandable via a microSD card. The device is also equipped with a 3,950 mAh battery, a 16-megapixel rear camera, and a fingerprint scanner in the power button.

Stylus and Android 16
The Palma 3 will ship with Android 16. The first Palma model ran on Android 11, while the Palma 2, introduced in 2024, ran on Android 13.
The new device supports the Boox InkSense Plus active stylus, like the color Palma 2 Pro. This allows the e-reader to be used as a digital notebook in note-taking apps. The Palma 2 cost $279.99 at launch, making the new model $60 more expensive.
