French company Mistral AI has acquired Austrian physicist Emmi — Reuters

Mistral AI, a French company considered to be Europe’s largest artificial intelligence developer, has announced the acquisition of the Vienna-based company Emmi AI

This was reported by the international news agency Reuters, noting that the parties are not currently disclosing the financial details of the transaction.

This strategic deal aims to expand capabilities in the field of industrial AI and strengthen the position of the European high-tech sector.

The Austrian startup possesses unique technological solutions for the engineering sector. It is known that Emmi AI raised €15 million in a funding round in 2025.

The company specializes in AI capable of processing complex physical phenomena, such as airflows, heat exchange, and material stresses.

Integrating these innovations will allow the French giant to create fundamentally new tools for heavy industry.

The development of such technologies aligns directly with the European Union’s geopolitical and economic priorities. Industrial artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in the reindustrialization of Europe.

In October 2025, the European Commission identified industry as one of the sectors where artificial intelligence is crucial for reducing the bloc’s dependence on U.S. and Chinese technologies.

The acquisition of the Austrian developer will allow Mistral AI to significantly expand its range of services for the corporate sector.

Mistral stated that this deal reinforces the company’s core strategy for European clients, aimed at addressing engineering and manufacturing challenges that remain underutilized in the industry.

The combined efforts of the two teams are expected to accelerate the implementation of innovations at factories across the continent.

Thanks to the new acquisition, European manufacturers will gain significantly more accurate digital design tools.

“Adding Emmi’s capabilities will allow the company’s existing industrial systems to model and interact with the physical world more accurately,” emphasized representatives from the French side.

This will minimize errors during the creation of complex parts and equipment.
