Google Unveiled the Pixel 11 Lineup Featuring Gemini Intelligence
Google has unveiled its new Pixel 11 lineup of smartphones, centered around the Gemini Intelligence suite of AI features. The series includes the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, according to CNBC.
Gemini Intelligence is designed to understand what the user is doing on their smartphone and perform actions across various apps. The system can combine information from messages, the calendar, maps, and other Google services, and then suggest or initiate the next steps. Examples include checking availability, comparing travel options, and starting a restaurant reservation.
Google is also expanding AI features integrated directly into the operating system so that users don’t have to open a separate chatbot. Rick Osterloh, head of Google’s devices division, told CNBC that the company believes AI can significantly change the way people interact with smartphones and computers. According to him, Gemini’s agent capabilities should enable it not only to find information but also to perform tasks.

The Pixel 11 launch took place a few weeks before the expected release of Apple’s updated Siri, which, according to CNBC, is being developed using Google’s Gemini models. Osterlo noted that the Pixel and iPhone are evolving in different directions, highlighting the integration of Gemini into Android. Among the advantages of the Google ecosystem, he cited fraud detection, Rambler voice transcription technology, and deeper Gemini integration.
At the same time, Osterlo acknowledged that AI is not yet the main reason for upgrading smartphones. According to Counterpoint Research, AI ranks roughly sixth or seventh among reasons for purchasing a new phone, although its importance has risen by one or two positions in recent surveys.
Separately, Osterlo noted a shortage of RAM and flash memory, which is driving up costs for electronics manufacturers. He said companies are having to raise prices, and Google also expects to need to further increase prices for its own devices.
