Samsung co-leads funding round for Dutch AI startup Euclyd
Samsung Electronics co-led a €200 million, or $231 million, Series A funding round for Dutch startup Euclyd. The company is developing a computing system for artificial intelligence inference designed to reduce data-center costs and electricity consumption. This was reported by Korea Herald.
GPU-free architecture
Somerset Capital Partners, Innovation Industries and the Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by EQT, also participated in the funding round. Euclyd CEO Bernardo Kastrup told CNBC that Samsung could support the startup not only with capital, but also with expertise in memory-chip manufacturing, engineering and supply chains.
Founded in 2024, Euclyd is creating a computing system based on an architecture fundamentally different from graphics processing units. Its development is focused on inference — the stage of AI operation when an already trained model responds to requests and performs tasks. AI computing is dominated by Nvidia graphics processing units, which were originally developed for video games.

Plans through 2030
Euclyd says its GPU-free architecture can reduce data-center costs and energy consumption, although the technology has not yet been tested at commercial scale. The startup plans to sell chips and server racks for secure on-premises AI inference, as well as license the technology to companies developing their own processors.
The company expects to begin shipping chip systems in 2028 and serve thousands of corporate customers by 2030. The investment was another step by Samsung in expanding its presence in artificial intelligence: a week earlier, the company led a €3 billion Series D round for French AI-model developer Mistral AI and acquired a strategic stake in it.
