A reference to the Sonos Ace Ultra headphones was spotted in FCC documents
Documents filed by Sonos with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reveal details about new wireless headphones with the model number S52A. One of the documents also contains an oval diagram, likely of a headphone ear cup, labeled “Sonos Ace Ultra,” according to The Verge, citing What Hi-Fi?.
The name “Sonos Ace Ultra” appears only on this diagram; it is not mentioned in the other documents. However, it follows the naming convention that Sonos has already used for its Arc and Arc Ultra soundbars. Earlier, CEO Tom Conrad hinted during the third-quarter earnings call that a successor to the Sonos Ace would be released this fall.
The documentation lists five color options for the new model: greige, shadow black, agave, blush, and sand. These expand the color palette compared to the Sonos Ace, which was available in white and black.

The documents also indicate testing of operation on local networks in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. The Verge speculates that this may be related to the feature that streams audio from a TV to headphones, which is available on the Sonos Ace. At the same time, this detail could also indicate support for streaming music over Wi-Fi, similar to Sonos speakers.
The Sonos Ace was released over two years ago. Its launch took place amid issues with the company’s updated app. The Verge notes that the first Sonos headphones stood out for their comfort, design, sound quality, and active noise cancellation, but fell short of some competitors in their price range, notably the Sony WH-1000XM5 and the Sennheiser Momentum 4.
