On May 17–18, most regions of Ukraine will experience rain and thunderstorms
Short-lived showers and thunderstorms in some areas are expected in Ukraine on Sunday, May 17. Precipitation is forecast overnight in the far west and east of the country, and during the day across nearly the entire country, except for the western regions.
This is reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
Forecasters predict a southeasterly wind shifting to a northeasterly wind with speeds of 5–10 m/s.
Air temperatures will be: at night: +10…+15°C; during the day: +18…+23°C.
No significant precipitation is expected in the capital at night, but brief rain is forecast during the day.
Temperatures in Kyiv: at night: +11…+13°, during the day: +20…+22°.
Wind: southeasterly, shifting to northeasterly, 5–10 m/s.
According to the Boris Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory, the highest temperature recorded in Kyiv on May 17 was in 1975—+30.7°.
The lowest temperature on this day was observed in 1936 — +3.5°.
On Monday, May 18, short-lived rains and thunderstorms are also expected in Ukraine. Only the western regions will remain dry overnight.
In the southeastern regions, fog is possible in some areas at night and in the morning.

Winds will be predominantly from the north, 5–10 m/s.
Short-lived rain is forecast for Kyiv on Monday.

Today, May 16, variable cloudiness is expected across Ukraine: some regions will see rain and thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will remain dry.
In Kyiv, temporary traffic restrictions will be in place in the city center on May 16–17. This is due to the “MHP Run4Victory Kyiv Marathon,” a charity sports event.
According to the forecast for May 15–16, prepared based on information from the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, geomagnetic activity is rated on the planetary K-index scale from 0 to 9. A reading of 5 or higher corresponds to strong magnetic storms.
