The Anti-Corruption Court extended the preventive measure against Halushchenko
The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has ruled to keep Herman Halushchenko, the former head of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Justice, in custody.
The former high-ranking official will remain in pretrial detention for at least another two months as part of the investigation into large-scale embezzlement.
According to the court’s ruling, the amount of bail that could allow the suspect to be released remains unchanged.
To be released from custody, Herman Halushchenko must post bail in the amount of 200 million hryvnias, which corresponds to the severity of the crimes he is charged with.
“The Anti-Corruption Court extended Halushchenko’s detention by two months, leaving the bail amount at 200 million hryvnias unchanged,” the court’s press service officially confirmed following the hearing.
The criminal proceedings concern the former minister’s activities during his tenure at the state-owned enterprise “Energoatom.”
Investigators suspect him of creating and leading a criminal organization that was involved in the systematic laundering of budget funds in the energy sector.
Galushchenko’s arrest became one of the most high-profile anti-corruption operations of 2026.
Detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) intercepted the former official on February 15 as he attempted to illegally cross the state border and leave the country.
Law enforcement agencies are currently continuing to gather evidence regarding the former minister’s involvement in financial fraud.
Galushchenko has been officially charged with participation in a criminal organization and the large-scale laundering of proceeds obtained through criminal means.
Galushchenko declared nearly 2 million hryvnias in salary before his dismissal
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) announced that it had notified former Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko of his status as a suspect in the “Midas” case.
Border guards received a special request from anti-corruption authorities regarding Galushchenko’s movements, as he is officially a subject of criminal proceedings. According to sources, the former minister attempted to leave the country by using his status as a father of many children.
Recall how Halushchenko gained control over Ukraine’s energy sector.
Former Minister Halushchenko also filed his 2025 declaration, adding a “secret” estate and income.
