The High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the preventive measure against Halushchenko

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the pretrial detention order against former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. The former official has the option to post bail in the amount of 200 million hryvnias; however, the funds have not yet been paid, and he remains in custody.

The High Anti-Corruption Court’s press service announced the panel of judges’ decision, which has entered into legal force and is not subject to appeal, on Facebook.

Investigators suspect Halushchenko of committing a series of particularly serious crimes, including the creation of a criminal organization and the laundering of proceeds from criminal activity. The court rejected the defense’s appeals, upholding the ruling of April 15, 2026, to extend the detention period. Law enforcement officials accuse the former official of participating in schemes that caused significant damage to the state. Further proceedings in the case will continue in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) announced that it had notified former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko of his status as a suspect in the “Midas” investigation.

Border guards received a special request from anti-corruption authorities regarding Halushchenko’s movements, as he is officially a subject of criminal proceedings. According to sources, the former minister attempted to leave the country by using his status as a father of many children.

Recall how Halushchenko gained control over Ukraine’s energy sector.

Former Minister Halushchenko also filed his 2025 declaration, adding a “secret” estate and income.
