Ukraine is entering a period of sharp spring instability, when the weather changes literally every hour: today it’s rain and stormy winds, and tomorrow it’s already cold and even wet snow in some places. Forecasters warn that April is ending without any steady warmth; instead, the country is going through another round of temperature “swings.”
According to meteorologist Natalka Didenko, the end of April fully reflects the nature of this month—with constant changes and contrasts. She noted: “The final weekend of April will be in line with the typical April weather—rain, snow, wind, and fluctuations in temperature and atmospheric pressure.”
On the night of April 25, precipitation is hardly expected, though frosts are possible in some regions, adding even more instability to the weather. During the day, rain will fall mainly in the north, while other regions will be drier, and in some places the sun may even peek out.
Daytime temperatures will range from +11 to +15 degrees, while in the south and west of the country it will be slightly warmer—up to +14 to +18 degrees. At the same time, the main feature remains the wind, which will stay strong, gusty, and stormy in places, predominantly from the west and northwest.
Unstable weather is also expected in Kyiv on April 25: frosts are possible at night, and light rain and temperatures of +13…+15 degrees during the day. Forecasters warn that the wind in the capital will intensify even further the very next day. Starting April 26, a new cold snap will begin to sweep across Ukraine, lowering daytime temperatures to +9…+12 degrees in most regions. Only the south, east, and parts of the central regions will remain relatively warm—up to +19 degrees.
On Sunday, weather conditions will worsen again: rain is expected across the country, and in the west, wet snow is even possible due to the cold snap. Despite this, forecasters are already seeing a trend toward a more noticeable warming after May 5, when spring is expected to return in a more stable pattern.
2026 has every chance of becoming one of the warmest years in the history of weather observations due to the intensification of global warming and the possible development of the El Niño phenomenon. Scientists are already recording alarming climate signals, including record Arctic ice melt and abnormally high temperatures at the beginning of the year.
