A tourist died near Hoverla after falling from a waterfall
A 53-year-old female hiker died in the Carpathians while descending from Hoverla. The woman fell from a waterfall, after which rescuers transported her body to the “Zaroslyak” training and sports base and handed it over to law enforcement officials.
The incident occurred the day before at around 5:00 p.m. The rescue service received a report that a woman had lost consciousness near the Hoverla Waterfall.
“Mountain rescuers were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the woman showing no signs of life. According to preliminary information, she died as a result of falling from the waterfall,” the State Emergency Service reported.
After completing the investigative and operational procedures, rescuers transported the victim’s body to the “Zaroslyak” base. Law enforcement officials are investigating all the circumstances of the incident.
It should be noted that the Hoverla Waterfall is located in the Chornohora Range, east of Ukraine’s highest peak. The waterfall has six cascades; the tallest is 12 meters high, and the total drop is 80 meters. It is a popular tourist destination, with a trail running alongside it that leads to the summit of Hoverla.
A female tourist from Poland died in the mountains of Slovakia.
As a reminder, Ukraine has resumed oil transit through the “Druzhba” pipeline.
Earlier, European Council President António Costa publicly thanked Volodymyr Zelenskyy for restoring a section of the Druzhba oil pipeline. Ukraine announced the completion of repair work following damage to the infrastructure caused by a Russian strike. The EU described this as the fulfillment of agreements.
The European Commission expects that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will soon officially announce the resumption of oil pumping through Ukraine via the Druzhba pipeline.
