The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating possible misconduct in the 425th Assault Regiment "Skelya"
The State Bureau of Investigations has launched a pre-trial investigation into alleged misconduct involving servicemembers of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya.” The investigation was prompted by reports published in the media.
According to the investigation, media reports allege possible instances of violence against service members, abuse of authority, and other alleged violations by certain officials within the unit.
After verifying the information, investigators entered the details into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.
The investigation was opened under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—exceeding authority or official powers by a military official under martial law, resulting in serious consequences.
Currently, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is conducting a series of procedural actions, including verifying the accuracy of the facts reported in the media, establishing all the circumstances of possible incidents, and identifying the individuals who may have been involved in the violations.
The agency emphasized that, based on the results of the investigation, each person implicated will be subject to an appropriate legal assessment.
The day before, the publication “Babel” released a report on the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya.” According to witnesses cited in the article, the report addressed non-combat casualties among the mobilized troops, possible cases of violence and torture at training grounds and training centers, and the alleged failure to provide timely medical care to soldiers.
The investigation is currently ongoing. Final conclusions regarding the events will be drawn after reviewing all collected evidence and the testimonies of those involved.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) on Telegram.
Earlier, the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” denied allegations of beatings of mobilized soldiers who subsequently died, stating that the causes of death were primarily related to pre-existing medical conditions or accidents. The unit emphasizes that it is cooperating with the investigation and wants a full investigation into every case, without exception.
In March, at least five recruits from the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” died less than two weeks after being mobilized. According to official data as of May 19, the causes of death were heart and lung diseases.
The 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” responded to media reports about the deaths of recruits while on duty. The unit stated that it is ready to cooperate with law enforcement and urged people not to jump to conclusions. Military officials emphasize that each case must be investigated separately.
