The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the crash of a MiG-29 fighter jet in the Odesa region

The State Bureau of Investigations has opened a criminal investigation into the crash of a Ukrainian Armed Forces MiG-29 fighter jet, which occurred on the evening of August 10 in the Berezivsky District of Odesa Oblast.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft was carrying out a combat mission to destroy enemy drones.

During the active phase of the combat mission, an emergency situation arose on board, causing the fighter jet to catch fire.

According to preliminary data, the pilot lost control of the aircraft but managed to eject. According to law enforcement officials, his life and health are not in danger.

Immediately after the fighter jet crashed, an investigative team from the State Bureau of Investigation arrived at the scene and worked there throughout the night.

Bureau personnel inspected the crash site, are recovering and documenting debris, and are gathering necessary evidence.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses and military personnel who can provide information about the circumstances of the aviation incident.

Separately, the search for the flight data recorder—the so-called “black box”—is ongoing.

The data from the flight data recorder is crucial for determining the circumstances of the final minutes of the flight. After receiving and analyzing this information, the investigation will be able to formulate and release preliminary theories regarding the causes of the fighter jet’s crash.

The State Bureau of Investigation will also verify whether the rules for flight preparation, execution, and aircraft operation were followed.

The criminal case has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—violation of flight rules or rules for preparing for flights, as well as rules for the operation of aircraft, resulting in a crash.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR).

On August 10, a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet crashed in the Odesa region. The pilot managed to eject and survived. According to the Air Force, the pilot was carrying out a combat mission to destroy enemy targets over the territory of the Odesa region.

Law enforcement officials in the Odesa region have uncovered the organizer of an illegal scheme to smuggle conscripts abroad. According to police, 147 men were being smuggled out of the country under the guise of sailors.

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police uncovered nine new schemes for evading mobilization in various regions of the country. As part of special operations, 23 organizers of these schemes were detained; for a fee, they helped men subject to military service avoid conscription or illegally leave the country.
