The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of a 29-year-old man following his stay at a treatment and rehabilitation center in Zakarpattia
Officials from the State Bureau of Investigations have launched a pre-trial investigation into the death of a 29-year-old man who had been staying at one of the territorial recruitment and social support centers in Zakarpattia the day before.
According to the investigation, the basis for opening the case was information from the media and social networks regarding possible violence against the man during his stay at the recruitment and social support center.
It is reported that while at the center, the man repeatedly complained of feeling unwell. He was taken to a medical facility twice, where, after the first examination, doctors provided treatment and discharged him, after which he was returned to the recruitment and support center.
The next day, the man’s condition deteriorated sharply, and he was re-hospitalized in critical condition following a sudden cardiac arrest. Despite resuscitation efforts, he died a few days later without regaining consciousness.
A criminal case has been opened regarding this incident under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—abuse of authority or official powers by a military official under martial law.
The article provides for a penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment.
Currently, the State Bureau of Investigation is conducting initial investigative actions, specifically reviewing the actions of officials from the TCC and the SP, establishing the circumstances of the man’s stay at the center, and assessing the timeliness and adequacy of the medical care provided.
Forensic medical examinations have been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

This was reported by the SBI press center.
The Transcarpathian Regional Police confirmed the hospitalization of a man with physical injuries following his stay at one of the regional territorial centers for recruitment and social support. The man subsequently died in the hospital.
In the Ternopil region, the specialized prosecutor’s office for defense matters opened a criminal investigation into possible instances of unlawful deprivation of liberty of citizens at the TCC and SP facility. The investigation was initiated based on the findings of a monitoring visit and materials from law enforcement agencies and the Human Rights Commissioner.
