A Pension Fund official will stand trial in Kyiv for embezzling 3.8 million hryvnias
In Kyiv, members of an organized group who embezzled nearly 3.8 million hryvnias from the budget of the capital’s Pension Fund office and city council will stand trial.
The perpetrators organized a large-scale scheme to embezzle public funds during major renovations and equipment purchases.
The fraud took place during major repairs of the Pension Fund’s administrative buildings in Kyiv. Additionally, the perpetrators profited from the supply of network equipment to educational institutions in the capital.
The organizer of the illegal activities turned out to be the head of the capital’s Pension Fund office. She involved representatives of contracting organizations and technical supervision engineers in the scheme.
The perpetrators acted according to a clearly defined plan, using companies under their control. After tenders were announced, it was precisely these predetermined companies that won the contracts.
Subsequently, the participants in the scheme significantly inflated the cost of the work performed, building materials, and equipment. They entered knowingly false data into the official reports of work performed.
Accomplices among the technical supervision engineers ensured the unimpeded documentation of the work with inflated figures. They turned a blind eye to the actual volumes and cost of materials.
Based on the forged documents, government agencies transferred budget funds to the accounts of the individuals involved. The payments were made in amounts that significantly exceeded the work actually performed and the goods actually delivered.
