Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations uncovered two schemes involving the illegal smuggling of conscripts across the state border in the Zakarpattia and Ternopil regions.
In Ternopil Oblast, law enforcement officers exposed a lawyer who heads one of the departments providing free legal aid. For 20,000 U.S. dollars, he promised a conscript that he would arrange for him to leave Ukraine illegally.
In Zakarpattia, during the investigation of a case involving a law enforcement officer exposed in July 2026, another participant in the scheme was identified—a 42-year-old military servicemember, whose indictment is already before the court in a case involving desertion from his military unit.
