A school lunch should cover about 30–35% of a student’s daily energy needs.

grams* Ages 11–14 — 90
grams* Ages 14–18 — 120 grams

Vegetable serving sizes:

* Ages 6–11 — 100
grams* Ages 11–14 and 14–18 — 120 grams

At the same time, for certain items, the serving size remains the same for all age groups, specifically one egg and 100 grams of fresh or frozen fruits and berries.

This was reported by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

As a reminder, school lunches will be inspected throughout Ukraine.

On September 1, 2026, Ukraine launched the final phase of scaling up the state program for free hot meals, which has been extended to all students in grades 1–11 (12) at public schools offering full-time and blended learning formats.

Schools in Chernivtsi will have their student meals inspected following the raw carrot scandal.
