A former State Border Service official has been charged in a corruption case
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) have notified a former deputy head of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine that he is a suspect. According to the investigation, he is another individual implicated in the case involving corruption and abuse of power within the agency.
It is noted that the suspect currently holds the position of deputy head of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“According to the investigation, in 2023–2024, he acquired assets worth over 11 million hryvnias, the lawful origin of which is not supported by evidence. Part of these funds, according to investigators, was used to purchase a Toyota RAV4. NABU detectives discovered the rest of the cash during a search of the official’s residence,” the statement reads.
The individual’s actions have been classified under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Also, in January 2026, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) exposed a group of individuals for systematically receiving unlawful benefits in exchange for facilitating the unimpeded crossing of the state border. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, NABU notes.
As a reminder, an official at the municipal enterprise “Informatika” has been notified of suspicion of fraud involving the procurement of cameras.
In Kyiv, a lawyer was convicted of fraud and extorting $30,000.
