Following the explosion in Monaco, Yermolayev accused the Main Intelligence Directorate of an assassination attempt
Vadym Yermolayev, a Ukrainian businessman subject to sanctions who was injured in an explosion in Monaco, stated that he believes Ukrainian intelligence was involved in the attempt on his life and that of his family. He also requested protection for himself and his loved ones.
According to the publication, Yermolayev’s letter was made public by the law firm Dynasty Law & Investment, which represents the businessman’s interests. The authenticity of the document was also confirmed by Yermolayev’s attorney in Monaco.
A direct quote from the letter: “Based on information provided to us during the investigation, we are convinced that officers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, known as the GUR, were directly involved in this assassination attempt. The evidence currently available also indicates that the operation was not limited to the direct perpetrators and organizers, but also involved GUR officers, some of whom are believed to be close to the service’s current or former leadership.”
Yermolayev emphasized that he “fully understands the gravity of these allegations” and is making them public because he believes that “they must be the subject of a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation.”
“If active intelligence service employees use their official positions, resources, or networks to organize the murder of a family on European soil, then this is no longer simply a crime against my loved ones. This is a matter of international security and trust in institutions,” the businessman writes.
Although Yermolayev’s statements are directed against Ukrainian intelligence, he also expressed his “sincere” gratitude to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “for his personal attention to this case and for the assistance already provided.”
The businessman also emphasized that “this statement is directed neither against Ukraine nor against the Ukrainian people.”
“Ukraine depends on the trust of its allies. No institution, no intelligence service, and no government official can be above the law. My lawyers and I will continue to cooperate fully with the investigative authorities and provide them with all information that may help establish the truth,” Yermolayev added.
In addition, he asked the authorities of Monaco, Ukraine, and France, as well as the relevant international institutions, to guarantee the protection of his family, loved ones, witnesses, his lawyers, and everyone involved in this case, “until all those responsible, including the mastermind behind this crime, are identified and brought to justice.”
Referring to the June 29 terrorist attack in the Principality of Monaco, Yermolayev noted that the perpetrators saw his wife and child next to him and suggested that “their goal was to kill all three of us, regardless of age or gender.”
