The Prosecutor General denied any involvement in the schemes mentioned in the NABU recordings
Ruslan Kravchenko denied any involvement in providing protection for fraudulent call centers or in the legalization of assets. The head of the Prosecutor General’s Office stated that mentions of him in the NABU recordings do not prove his involvement in criminal schemes, emphasizing that “conversations are just conversations.”
According to the high-ranking official, the anti-corruption agencies’ claims regarding his involvement in receiving funds from illegal call centers and laundering those funds are completely unsubstantiated.
“Conversations are just conversations, just as a photo of a safe with money is merely a photo of a safe with money that has no connection whatsoever to me or to the prosecutor’s office, but is, according to my attorneys, merely a photograph from another criminal case,” the statement reads.
In addition, Kravchenko commented on other issues that the NABU and the SAP found suspicious. Specifically, these include conversations recorded on tape about the prosecutor general’s and his wife’s travels, her purchase of a laptop, and renovation work in Kozin, where many high-ranking officials have their homes.
“Regarding my travels and my family’s household matters, any expenses were incurred exclusively within the limits of current legislation and my declared income, without any violations,” Kravchenko wrote.
He also denied that his wife had purchased a laptop, a matter also under review by anti-corruption authorities.
“Regarding the U.S. visa and the laptop purchase: my wife prepared the documents and obtained the visa on her own, and she does not have a new laptop!” the official stated on Telegram.
Finally, the house in Kozin: Kravchenko asserts that the property has been rented since May of this year. Prior to that, certain repairs had been carried out there during the winter.
“My permanent place of residence will be declared in accordance with the law,” the Prosecutor General added.
Prior to this, the Office of the Prosecutor General responded to the nighttime raids conducted by NABU in the “Carthage” case.
Earlier, prosecutors from the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Office completed a pretrial investigation and filed an indictment with the court against the organizer and seven members of a transnational criminal organization.
Thanks to international cooperation, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, together with colleagues from Europol, Eurojust, and the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, dismantled a fraudulent call center whose members defrauded citizens of money.
NABU and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) exposed a criminal organization that systematically received bribes from fraudulent call centers and laundered millions in illicit proceeds.
