A conflict with the Traffic Police broke out near a school in Dnipro over a document check
In Dnipro, near one of the high schools, a conflict involving civilians broke out while TCC employees were checking documents. During the incident, pepper spray was used, and it drifted onto the school grounds, where a physical education class was in session.
The TCC stated that it was the civilians who used the pepper spray.
Consequences for the school and police response
The school’s principal, Iryna Nesterenko, reported that the sprayed gas entered the area where the children were in class. After the incident, parents took the students home.
The students did not seek medical attention, though one of the teachers sustained scratches.
The police noted that there was no deliberate spraying of the children; rather, the gas from the canister was carried by the wind during the pursuit of the man.
An investigative team is currently on the school grounds, interviewing witnesses and school staff.
The military’s version
According to the regional Civil-Military Cooperation Center and Joint Staff, on September 9, a response team, together with law enforcement officers, stopped a man of draft age to check his documents.
The man refused to present them, fell to the ground, and began shouting.
After that, bystanders began to gather at the scene, including men and women with children.
The Military Registration and Enlistment Office notes that the civilians behaved aggressively and threatened the military personnel. To avoid an escalation, the group decided to leave.

An internal investigation has been launched into the incident, following which the unit plans to file a report with the police.
