Hero of Ukraine Warned of Conflicts Between the Military and Civilians After the War
Serhiy Panfilov, a Hero of Ukraine and police captain, believes that once the war ends, tensions within Ukrainian society may escalate between military personnel and men who did not participate in combat operations.
According to him, this could manifest particularly sharply in everyday situations. Panfilov gave the example of two men meeting after the war, when one asks the other where he fought, only to hear in response that the other man did not serve.
The soldier explained that a person who has lost comrades or suffered serious injuries may feel resentment toward those who remained civilians throughout the conflict. In his view, this could lead to conflicts between different segments of society.
Panfilov emphasized that the consequences of war can manifest not only in the physical trauma suffered by soldiers but also in attitudes toward those who had different experiences during combat operations.
