Martynovska's interview sparked a wave of criticism online: details

There has been a stir online surrounding Ukrainian chef and host of the “MasterChef” show, Olga Martynovskaya. The controversy stems from her interview with journalist Maria Efrosinina, in which she shared stories from her childhood. In particular, the conversation mentioned that she and other children had, in the past, been cruel to animals, which sparked a wave of discussion and criticism on social media.

In particular, a Threads user with the nickname zheny_abo_sheny drew attention to this by posting the relevant excerpt from the interview.

“I used to throw cats off the roof and run after them to catch them, or we’d tie firecrackers to the cats’ tails,” Martynovska said, recounting her childhood.

It was these very words that sparked widespread outrage among users. In particular, most noted that Martynovska spoke about the cruelty toward animals with a smile.

Some also noted that host Masha Yefrosinina was also laughing when Olga Martynovska described this situation.

One user contacted the STB TV channel to ask whether Martynovska could continue to host the “MasterChef” show after this.

Masha Yefrosinina also responded to the situation. In an Instagram comment, she noted that “one of the phrases” in the interview “caused a negative reaction.”

The host emphasized that neither she nor Olga Martynovska support cruelty to animals and that this segment will be removed from the interview.

The war has caused a sharp increase in the population of wild animals in Ukraine, and they are destroying crops.

As a reminder, sunflower prices in Ukraine have risen to a seasonal high.

The government has also ordered price controls on medicines due to the risk of price increases.
