Kharkiv has canceled a tender for the purchase of electric buses worth 15 million euros
An international tender for the purchase of electric buses for Kharkiv, which was to be financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), concluded without a winner being selected. The expected cost of the purchase was up to 15 million euros, but the procedure did not result in a contract being signed.
What was planned?
The city planned to purchase 12-meter low-floor city electric buses, fully adapted to the needs of people with limited mobility.
In addition to the buses themselves, the supplier was also to provide Kharkiv with charging stations, maintenance equipment, and spare parts, as well as conduct training for staff.
Tender details
Two participants registered outside the European Economic Area (the European Union, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein) submitted bids. Despite the competition, the contracting authority rejected both proposals. The reasons for disqualifying the participants and canceling the tender were not specified in the official announcement.
In 2023, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated that electric buses were to become “Kharkiv’s signature feature.” It was planned to purchase about 30 such vehicles using EIB funds.
This was reported by LIGA.net, citing the official EU public procurement bulletin (Tenders Electronic Daily).
