International partners will allocate nearly 2 million euros for the restoration of Ukraine's cultural heritage

Leading countries and international organizations will allocate approximately 2 million euros for the restoration of Ukrainian cultural sites damaged as a result of Russian aggression.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhna during a conference on the topic in Lviv, according to Ukrinform.

The financial aid will come from various sources in several currencies.

“The Netherlands has provided us with 1 million euros, the United Kingdom today—250,000 pounds, Luxembourg has allocated 350,000 euros, UNESCO—60,000 dollars, and 250,000 euros—from the European Commission,” the minister detailed the breakdown of the funds.

All funds are being pooled into the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Fund, which has already formed a board of directors.

Experts are currently preparing a list of specific monuments for priority restoration, including, for example, Lviv Cathedral, which was damaged by the occupiers’ attacks.

Priority will be given to sites that Russia deliberately destroyed in an attempt to eradicate Ukrainian identity.

In total, the aggressor country has already damaged 1,707 cultural heritage sites, which require immediate documentation and conservation for future restoration.

In addition to construction work, investments will be directed toward the safe relocation of museum collections from frontline areas.

“Many collections are currently at risk, especially during evacuation from frontline territories. Therefore, we also need additional funds to preserve these sites,” emphasized Tetiana Berezhna.

As a reminder, nearly 82,000 families receive child care assistance for children under one year of age.

A pilot project to provide basic social assistance to low-income families has launched in Ukraine.

The minimum pension in Ukraine will increase in 2026.

The average salary has also risen, but shadow income continues to strain the budget.
