The Foreign Ministry rejected claims about U.S. biolabs in Ukraine and highlighted a Russian disinformation campaign
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to a post by U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard regarding the alleged U.S. government funding of more than 120 “biolaboratories,” including some in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Ukraine fully complies with the provisions of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons and has never engaged in the development, production, or stockpiling of biological weapons.
The ministry explained that cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. in the field of biosafety has focused exclusively on public health, laboratory diagnostics, epidemiological surveillance, and protection against dangerous infections.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that claims about “American biolaboratories” have been spread by Russian propaganda for years. In 2022, at the request of the Russian Federation, this issue was already considered within the framework of the official consultative process under the Convention, where the allegations were not substantiated.
Ukraine called for reliance on verified facts and the results of international consultations, rather than on distorted interpretations and Russian information campaigns.
